Cosmetics & Collagen

 

 

For years scientists and cosmetologists’ at large cosmetic corporations have been looking for ways to invent products and formulas that cure mankind’s oldest killer, age. In 1795 a famous alchemist Count Alessandro Cagliostro was imprisoned for having founded the “elixir of youth”, which subsequently didn’t work.

 

The 20th century brought us a significant increase in potions and remedies from large cosmetic corporations, it seemed anything and everything was the new wonder ingredient; Eucerit, glycerine, lanolin and then later on anti-oxidants and vitamins became the secret ingredient, and although all of these have their benefits, the elixir of youth they were not.

 

More recently it has been the use of drastic surgeries that have given us hope to improve looks; hyaluronic acid, growth hormones, retinol and synthetic laser treatments are used to bring the desired effects. Collagen implants and botox can produce unnatural results and require constant “retouching” and on-top of all of this the cost is astronomical. The fact is that when we get older (24 years old to be exact) our body’s natural collagen level slowly begins to dwindle.
